There are so many ways to drink a Shakeology shake. You can find numerous recipes through Beachbody, and many more on the internet through a simple google search. Typically Shakeology itself is not quite enough for a meal, but would be perfect for a snack. This leads me into the purpose of this article.
First, I want to clarify that Shakeology is not a post workout protein supplement. It is a meal replacement option. With all of the different options out there, I find this to be one of the best when considering the ingredients, variety of flavors, and the fact that there is a vegan option. Since it is a meal replacement, you can use it in many different ways. I start my day really early in the morning, and don’t have the time make much of a breakfast without making a mess and a lot of noise. I used to eat a bowl of cereal every morning for as long as I can remember. I hope I don’t have to explain why this is not the most nutritious start to the day. I switched to having a quick shake instead, significantly increasing the nutritional value of my first meal. A little later in the morning I will then have something with more substance, typically 2 pieces of Ezekiel Bread toast with peanut butter and banana. This holds me over until lunch. Now, that’s me. That doesn’t have to be you. I like to suggest people to use Shakeology, for the meal that causes the biggest challenges for eating healthy. For me it was breakfast first thing early in the morning. If you travel all day for work, it may be lunch to save you from hitting the drive-through. Maybe it’s just a mid-morning or afternoon snack when you tend to get a craving for something sweet. Whatever is the most challenging time for you, is the best time for Shakeology. With all of that being said, I don’t recommend living off Shakeology multiple times a day. I always promote eating real food over getting most of your nutrition from a bag or bottle. Likewise, if you are able to eat healthy each meal, and are satisfied doing so, then there is no need for a shake. “Did he really just say that?!” Yes, he did. I became a Beachbody Coach to improve your health through the use of their quality products, NOT begin a new career as a salesman. I am a fitness professional first, and helping others is my passion. Beachbody simply offers high quality versatile options to improve your health and fitness. Shakeology can be a valuable addition to your eating regimen, but as I stated above, it may not be necessary. I will also follow that up by saying I haven’t met too many people in my career in the fitness industry that couldn’t use a little help with their dietary habits. Myself included! I was listening to a podcast the other day, and they were talking about a question this person got from a student on how to make $1 million. The response was, “have you made $100?” The student then responded, “I don’t want to make $100, I want to make $1 million.” The instructor then asked again, “Have you made $100?” You can kind of see where this is going. So often we focus on the big picture so much, that we forget that the big picture is simply just the sum of its parts. I’m sure a lot of you have heard the saying that if you take care of the little things, the big things will take care of themselves. I know everyone has also heard the quote, “A journey of a thousand miles, begins with a single step.” If you don’t take that first step, traveling 1,000 miles is not possible.
Coming back to the question in podcast on how to make $1 million, the answer was simple, yet profound. “Have you made $100?” Once you make $100, you do what you did to make that $100, and do it 10 times to make $1,000. Then you do what you did to make that $1,000 ten times to make $10,000, and so on until you’ve made $1 million. So, how do you lose 100 pounds? By losing 1 pound first. Each one claiming they can get you there quicker than the other. Sadly we live in an era of instant gratification, and the mindset is no different when it comes to matters of our health. We want the best we can get, the fastest we can get it, oh, and for the least we can get it for. There are billions of dollars spent on health and fitness each year, all eager to try the newest thing that has come along. One common theme we tend to see with products of this nature, is they burst onto the scene then slowly fade in popularity, typically making way for the next one. If you think back over even just the past 15 years, there have been so many products or plans that have come on the scene, made their millions, and slowly vanished. What if I told you there is one solution that has stood the test of time? One that has been around ever since the ancient Greeks participated in the first ever Olympic Games. This solution not only helps you stay in great physical shape, but it also keeps your insides functioning at a high level. That solution is eating good, clean foods, and engaging in regular physical activity. No matter how far we’ve come, this solution to gaining and maintaining health has never wavered. Granted, there a number of different "tools" to utilize, but the idea has always remained the same. So why doesn’t everyone do it? It’s hard, and it takes longer! If it was easy everyone would do it. It’s much easier to invest a little more money into that quick fix, rather than investing some time and effort into doing it the tried and true way.
